Em 2018, o espetáculo fica em cartaz de 24 de janeiro até 18 de fevereiro, com entrada gratuita.
Na trama, os cidadãos da cidade de Güllen esperam ansiosos pela chegada da milionária Claire Zachanassian (vivida por Denise Fraga) – que promete salvá-los da falência. No jantar de boas-vindas, Claire impõe uma condição: doa um bilhão à cidade se alguém matar Alfred Krank, o homem por quem foi apaixonada na juventude e que a abandonou grávida por um casamento de interesse. Ouve-se um clamor de indignação e todos os habitantes de Güllen rejeitam a absurda proposta. Claire, então, decide esperar, hospedando-se com seu séquito no hotel da cidade.
A partir dessa premissa, Friedrich Dürrenmatt nos premia com uma obra-prima da dramaturgia, construindo uma rede de cenas que se entrelaçam, cheias de humor e ironia, onde os personagens vão, pouco a pouco, escancarando a fragilidade humana diante do grande regente de nossas vidas: o dinheiro.
A Visita da Velha Senhora é caracterizada por Dürrenmatt como uma comédia trágica. Seu texto faz uso do humor para a reflexão. Disseca os conflitos morais, as noções de ética, poder e justiça e as sutilezas de suas fronteiras. Até onde pode-se ir por dinheiro? O que significa justiça em nossos tempos? Até que ponto o valor moral da justiça se adequa ao poder econômico? Até que ponto a linha ética se molda ao poder? Até onde nos vendemos? E quanto nos custa a não submissão? Ao longo da história, o público se depara com questões que sempre estiveram em pauta na história da humanidade e que se apresentam agora mais atuais do que nunca.
“Depois de dois anos e meio de A Alma Boa de Setsuan, de Bertolt Brecht, e um ano e meio de Galileu Galilei, do mesmo gênio alemão, sou mais uma vez surpreendida pela potente atualidade de um clássico. Não foi por acaso que cheguei a Dürrenmatt. Foi discípulo, bebeu em Brecht. Lá está o mesmo fino humor, a mesma ironia e teatralidade. Dürrenmatt também se faz valer do entretenimento para arrebatar o público para a reflexão”, afirma Denise Fraga.
Na peça Alma Boa de Setsuan, a personagem principal perguntava “como posso ser boa se eu tenho que pagar o aluguel? Como posso ser bom e sobreviver no mundo competitivo em que vivemos? ”. Em Galileu Galilei, o questionamento central era “como posso ser fiel ao que penso sem sucumbir ao poder econômico e político vigente? Como manter meus ideais comprando meu vinho bom?”. Para Denise Fraga, “encenar a Visita depois de A Alma Boa e Galileu é quase como completar uma trilogia. A trilogia de nosso eterno dilema entre a ética e o ganha pão”.
Em cada uma das peças – Alma Boa, Galileu Galilei e A Visita da Velha Senhora – as relações de poder e os conflitos morais vividos pelos personagens são explícitos. A diferença é que Brecht prefere desconstruir as ilusões de que nos alimentamos e propor uma possível transformação, enquanto Dürrenmatt as mantém vivas e ri delas por serem apenas isso: ilusões, enganos pelos quais lutamos e sempre lutaremos.
A Visita da Velha Senhora conta com direção do cineasta Luiz Villaça, que depois do sucesso de Sem Pensar, de Anya Reiss, e A Descida do Monte Morgan, de Arthur Miller, retorna ao teatro. A montagem ainda conta com a sofisticação dos cenários e figurinos de Ronaldo Fraga, a batuta do maestro Dimi Kireeff na direção musical, o desenho de Luz de Nadja Naira, da Companhia Brasileira de Teatro; Lucia Gayotto, na direção vocal; Keila Bueno, nas coreografias e preparação corporal, e Simone Batata, no visagismo.

Amo a comédia porque confio no humor e na ironia como um poderoso agente para a reflexão. Só se ri daquilo que se entende. O humor chama o pensamento e, com isso, dá eficácia e prazer à comunicação de uma ideia. É incrível como muitos dos autores tidos como clássicos confiavam nisso, mas estão com a risada do público presa na poeira de suas linhas. É preciso sacudí-las, dar uma escovada, deixá-las voar.
Brecht dizia: divertir para comunicar. Me identifico com isso. Divertir o público e mandá-lo para casa em estado de reflexão é o que tem me garantido a sensação de plenitude com o meu ofício. O sucesso de Alma Boa e Galileu me confirmaram a popularidade de Brecht. Mais da metade de nosso público talvez nunca tivesse ouvido falar dele, mas nem por isso deixaram de ser completamente capturados por sua genialidade.
Esta necessidade de propagar aquilo que me tocou o coração, dar-lhe comunicação e clareza para ver mover no outro o que moveu em mim, se tornou mesmo a grande força motriz de meu trabalho. Tem dado certo. E a cada espetáculo, renovo minha esperança de continuar fazendo o Teatro em que acredito.
