A 5ª edição da pesquisa Geek Power, realizada pelo Omelete Group, em parceria com o IBOPE CONECTA – plataforma web do IBOPE Inteligência – aponta crescimento no uso de serviços de streaming de vídeo e queda em TV por assinatura.
Em 2017, 97% do público revelaram ter o hábito de usar algum serviço de streaming de vídeo. Entre eles, Netflix (91%), Youtube (80%) e HBO Go (13%). Na segunda edição da pesquisa, em 2014, esse número era 68%.
Já o consumo de TV por assinatura caiu de 73%, em 2014, para 68% em 2017. Entre as operadoras mais utilizadas no ano passado estão: Net (31%), Sky (16%) e Vivo (10%).
Em comparação com 2016, o número de assinantes de streamings aumentou um ponto percentual, de 96% para 97%. Já o de TV caiu de 72% para 68%.
Os critérios para a escolha de um serviço de streaming são variados: 76% escolhem pelo preço e 71% pelo catálogo, enquanto 56% optam por serviços que ofereçam mais lançamentos e conteúdos originais.

A pesquisa reflete os números do setor de TV paga, que seguem em declínio. Segundo a Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel), de janeiro de 2016 a janeiro de 2017, os serviços registraram retração de 1,9%. Em números, a queda foi de 364.400 assinantes. Para Marcelo Forlani, diretor de marketing do Omelete Group, o que tem levado muita gente a questionar se ainda vale a pena manter a TV paga foi a necessidade de reduzir custos, aliada à maior oferta de serviços de streaming. “O consumidor está cada vez mais exigente e quer conteúdo de qualidade com bom preço. Quando aliamos isso à mudança de cultura e comportamento dos millenials, acostumados a ter o conteúdo on demand, percebemos que o cenário é irreversível”, analisa o diretor.
